XIII International veterinary seminar

Traditionally, in the first Tuesday of October, was started the XIII International seminar on the problems of treatment and prevention of horses’ diseases.

Sponsors changed, instead of International League for the Protection of Horses (ILPH) this year Seminar was sponsored by the British Veterinary Association of Horse-Breeding (BEWA), Equestrian Federation of Ukraine, and as well as interested companies Brovapharma, Simedika, Hell. The seminar was attended by professor Debbie Archer, Dr. Rachel Konvell and Dr. David Bardel from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine University of Liverpool.

After the outbreak of herpes infection among Ukrainian horses during competitions this year and flu of horses — in the past, questions on the prevention of infectious diseases were brought to the forefront. On the lectures, Professor Archer, emphasized that there is no state control in Britain over the system of vaccination, and the question is concerned, in particular, the owner’s risk for the vaccination of their animals, but this control is assigned to organizations and clubs that hold competitions, so scheme vaccinations of sport horses are stuck to.

The second day of the seminar was devoted to veterinary training horses for competition, diseases and pathological conditions of animals during transport and intense stress during competition and training for it. Colleagues from the University of Liverpool shared their practical experience. In general, the seminar was very informative and interesting. The key to its successful is common participation of many organizations. First of all, thank equestrian club «Magnat» for the given conditions for realization of seminar and personally Natalia Popova and Equestrian Federation of Ukraine and personally the General Secretary of Federation Natalia Prysyazhnyuk.
